Anya Lossman
Meet the Researcher.
My name is Anya Lossman, and I am a senior at Rock Canyon High School working towards the AP Capstone Diploma.
I have had a fascination with films since before I can remember, and especially enjoy watching them with my family. I've always admired the work of filmmakers, and their ability captivate audiences through storytelling. Additionally, in recent years I have grown an interest in psychology and mental health, specifically of athletes.
Having grown up in Brooklyn, New York, I developed a strong value for diversity and equality at a young age. Much of my work as a student, sportswoman, and person surrounds these values, and I believe they are reflected in the purpose of my study. Through my research this year, I will strive to discover the impact of accurate portrayals within the film industry, and to create a separation between narrative and clinical knowledge.
Activities and Hobbies
I have a great love for equestrian sport. I started riding 10 years ago and have my own horse, a thoroughbred named Renegade. Riding has had the greatest influence on my life; it has taught me the value of patience, resilience, and strength. My time not spent in the saddle is occupied with reading, hiking, or traveling.
Academic Interests
I have always had a love for research.When not studying film, I focus my attention on gender equity and equestrian sport. Additionally, French has been a constant for many years in my life. I love learning about the language and culture, and have been a member of French National Honor Society for several years.
